Subwoofer Break-In Process

This is our absolute simplest explanation of one method for breaking in your new subwoofer. More involved techniques requiring specialized equipment exist, but this represents a basic foundational approach.

Initial Setup

Start by setting your radio to flat or zero settings. Avoid using "bass boost" or "loudness" features, as a properly tuned system shouldn't require them. You may adjust the subwoofer level for fine-tuning purposes.

Finding Your Break-In Level

Listen carefully to your subwoofer and tune the system to a loud level without distortion or popping sounds. Once you've identified your ideal volume, reduce the gain setting to half of that level.

Example: Drop from half gain to quarter gain. This becomes your break-in setting.

Break-In Duration

Maintain these reduced settings for the first 24 to 36 hours of actual playtime.

This typically equals about one week of regular listening in a vehicle used daily.

After Break-In

Once the initial 24-36 hour period is complete, you can return your system to its original tuning settings. Your subwoofer will then be fully broken in and ready for optimal performance.
